I am in the warehousing business in the Charleston area and when I thought about the flooding in Charleston and Columbia, I thought about the impact that this could have on my business. Then I thought about the safety for those that are on the roads. I am writing you to voice my concerns on the heavy weights that we allow truckers to haul via containers over the road. With the ground being extremely saturated with water and roads caving in and being washed away, I am worried that by allowing truckers to haul these heavy weight containers over the road that it might put others in danger. So my question to you is, have you thought about putting a temporary ban on hauling heavy overweight containers through our state during this time of crisis?
