My son Jonathan attends K5 at McKissick Elementary in Pickens County, and he is a disabled child due to his epilepsy. His neurologist Dr Addie Hunnicutt has recommended Jonathan has a service shadow while he is at school. I have taken this to the School and had a meeting with the Pickens County Superintendant Kelly Pew still Jonathan only has a service shadow for an hour or two in the afternoons. Jonathan not only has Epilepsy but he also has impulse control issues. He has been referred to behavioral pediatrics for testing for autism and OCD, but with such a long waiting list it still maybe more than 6 months before he is seen. In short I am asking is you can help me get the service shadow for my son not only for the seizures but also the impulse issues he has so he will not miss anymore instruction time so he may move on in school successfully and prepared. I know Jonathan is having seizures at school and they are being missed by the Faculty b/c there are so many Students they cannot devote the time to watching him that is required. Jonathan has what is called Partial Complex Seizures where he make a chewing motion with his mouth and appears to be daydreaming if this goes for more than three minutes he is to be rushed to the hospital, or if he has three or more in thirty minutes. Therefore missing the seizures is a dangerous situation for him. I would appreciate any help you can give me with this situation. Sincerely Joseph Nations 113 Waynes Dr. Easley Sc 29640 864-373-3445
