The state would only have to pay half the cost when the employee takes their leave, so the state saves money on what would accrue eventually, and the employee gets extra time off. Accruals would remain the same so if someone can't afford to participate they don't have to, and LWOP can still be an option. This could be done on an as-needed basis or through recurring deductions in our checks. Its a great benefit to parents or those who are chronically ill, as well as anyone who needs a bit of extra time. Thank you for your time, Geoff Bigelow
