Good Afternoon,

It has been a busy couple of weeks and I hope that your weekend was better than mine. But, after all the allegations and fireworks, cooler heads have prevailed and I look forward to spending more time out in our institutions and divisions and less time fighting political battles.

We are happy that these allegations are in the hands of professionals.

It is my pleasure to serve our state by working with each of you. Just like you jobs, leadership brings with it many unpleasant and difficult tasks. Some aspects are routine and tiring, but they must be done. Dealing with bad outcomes and bad employees is unpleasant but necessary. Getting around your institutions on a daily basis not sexy, but it must be done. For me, the politics of this job is a drag.

But, it is a pleasure to speak up for and to fight for the reputation and performance of the good employees of this agency. When we make a mistake, we should admit it, correct it and try to learn from it. But, all in all, we are among the best in the country and we have every reason to be pleased to be a member of the SCDC team.

Pay attention to detail and have a great week.
