Mt. Pleasant, SC (AP) - At least one Charleston-area motorist knows how to avoid a speeding ticket - drive so fast police don't bother to give chase.

Police said they just couldn't keep up after a motorist was clocked at 141 miles per hour heading to North Charleston on Interstate 526.

Motorists seem to be using Interstate 526 and the eight-lane Ravenel Bridge linking Charleston and Mount Pleasant to see just how fast their rides can go.

More officers are being put at both locations.

Police say one vehicle was clocked recently at 120 miles per hour, another at 103 and three more doing more than 90.

The speed limit along I-526 is 65 miles per hour and 55 miles per hour on the bridge.

It really isn't a surprise that someone was clocked doing 141 miles per hour down I526, this is a common occurrence. I've even seen Law Enforcement traveling at high speeds without blue lights over the Don Holt Bridge. Maybe that is why no one found it necessary to pursue this motorist.
