I have only lived in this wonderful state for 5 years, but it has given me a clear view as to why New England states continually rank number one. Kids are given every opportunity to flourish up north. My daughter is in 10th grade at Hanahan High School. She is an honor student who strives for every AP she can get. She loves her school but unfortunately her days are full of anxiety for one reason: the buses. What is so wrong with our schools that kids cannot get to school on time 4 out of 5 days per week? When daily, buses are broken down or they've continually forgotten to to pick up kids in the bus routes so they have to go back to get them. The windows are broken when inside the bus it is registering at 90 degrees. The buses are illegally overcrowded. My daughter has attended the public high school here for 6 months. I would estimate she has arrived at school on time approximately once per week. Other kids on other routes are continually 1-2 hours late getting home. What do you think this does to our children? The lack of safety? The anxiety? The fear? What's going to happen is a revolt from some very angry parents who have had enough. I encourage someone from the State House to please contact me so we can work on a resolution to this matter. Thank you, Kristin Lysik 64.20.28.129
