Haley, I am saddened but not surprised that you would suggest the closure of South Carolina State University, the only Black State Supported School in South Carolina. This Historical Black College has been underfunded before any ethic charges have been found. USC and Clemson are also State Supported Colleges and don't seem to have to beg for funding. Historically South Carolina has not been a supporter of Black people starting with the SC Gubernatorial Election of 1876 which ushered in the end of reconstruction. You and your counterparts just don't care. You don't care because it appears that the Blacks in South Carolina are not organized and are not a perceived threat, so our needs go unaddressed until election time. I am not from the south but I am a graduate of South Carolina State University so I observed the underfunding of the State Black Institutions of Higher Learning compared to USC and Clemson. Is it a coincidence that your announcement was made during Black History Month and during the 150 year anniversary of the burning of Columbia, which by the way slaves were blamed for, and never stopped being punished for in Columbia? Is this why schools that educate Black students are underfunded? I hope the day doesn't come when your(real)race and ethnicity is a barrier for you, but then again if that happens to you over and over again and then starts to effect or affect your children, maybe you'll understand.
