Nikki Haley, I know about Obama's Refugee Resettlement Program, and have read many articles about what this "resettlement" is really about; but what I'd like to ask you, respectfully, and for the townspeople of Spartanburg, which I have read about what they are trying to do to stop this massive influx of bringing in these people from Syria, without as yet a chance for their side to be heard from their city council. I got wind of this from seeing it on Facebook, and the posting by the Spartanburg Tea Party, along with a young lady, Michelle Wiles, who is fighting against having these Syrians enter into their community. Do you think it's fair that their city council is not allowing an "expert" on Michelle Wiles' side to refute this resettlement program that you've agreed to with this President's administration? I think that's rather a one-sided view on the part of that city council, don't you think? In another case, with all that has happened to our great state of SC during and after that horrific, "one-thousand-year floods" or rains, as you called it, and the devastation it created on some 380 roads and over 140 of our bridges over the past weekend, and some of the main rivers, like the Wacamaw, are predicted to still rise by tomorrow, making for more flooding, and the police want to evac a lot of people out of those areas by the Wacamaw River, I implore you to please delay any of such "resettlement programs" by all overseas immigrants coming into this state, as you very well may know, residents who are now displaced are your first attention to assist, not the refugees. Your SC citizens have just become your new "refugees" as a lot of them are "displaced" out of their homes from the carnage of the floods over the weekend, and bringing in more "displaced" refugees will create more dissent upon these now displaced South Carolinans who just lost their homes. You see the point, Governor? We just cannot handle "displaced persons" from another country when our state is in a Federal state of emergency, which you called and which this president confirmed that we are now a federal emergency state. So, how can we handle more refugees from another country when we have our own citizens that are displaced, without homes from the flood waters? How are we supposed to be able to bring in more people from another country while this state is suffering from a disastrous flood caused by perpetuating rains over a five day period? I'm just trying to help those towns, like Spartanburg to be able to recoup from any more upsetting issues that they are already facing, if any, and any of the other towns that were included in your list of towns to receive these "refugee resettlement" people. We just cannot afford to handle these people at this time. So, can you send a letter to the President stating that because he allowed the state of South Carolina to be named a Federal emergency, that you can't be bothered with trying to place these "refugees" in a state that has been hit by relentless rains and floods at the same time? You can save a lot of grieving from the citizens of South Carolina and their concerns about how they're supposed to deal with unknown people from another country while they are desperately trying to recover from a disaster at the same time. Don't you think that is fair enough for the people of your state? I only wrote this so I could help avert another "disaster" or something imminent that could happen should these "outsiders" from another country might cause something that we don't want to hear about in the major news reports. I'm trying to save your economic troubles, and another unsettling "incident" for your sake, for the sake of the citizens of South Carolina, and for the sake of those refugees as well. Please consider this as the rest of your citizens are recovering spiritually and physically in these weeks to come, and may be the months to come as well. Thank you for your considerations, and may God Bless you and South Carolina as all of us recover and help to recover back to way things were again. Carlene Carmen Retiree, US Army resident, Conway, SC
