Dear Governor's Staff,

I am the executive Director of an organization called Ripple of One.  We wanted to inquire about having Governor Haley speak at our fundraiser event for "Ripple of One" Sept. 26th, 2015 at the Lighthouse Event Center, Seneca SC.  We are anticipating approximately 200 people.

Ripple of One is an initiative of United Way in Oconee County SC. The mission of Ripple of One is to empower families to move beyond government assistance and into their full God-given potential.  Ripple of One was created to address the growing problem in the US --the problem of low-income families becoming dependent (for life) on government assistance.  Our participants never thought of moving beyond government assistance before starting with Ripple of One.  They are now realizing the impact and message this sends to their children and are beginning to adopt a new mentality as they begin to stand on their own. 

Ripple of One assigns a mentor and a team to each participant.  We empower by matching their savings (up to $200 per month), assisting with higher education, giving monthly rewards for reaching their goals and providing paid internships for job skills training and development.  Ripple provides intense financial counseling which teaches about the removal of unneeded expenses such as cable, rented appliances, fast food, cigarettes etc. until they've decreased their debt and are in a stable financial position. We are having great success with our families becoming self sufficient.
We believe that unless a different approach is implemented to address the evident problem of generational poverty then the number of families requiring assistance will only increase.  

We are confident that Governor Haley would be a great motivator about this topic and we sincerely hope that she will be able to attend our event!
