Just got back from Myrtle Beach ,I have never seen our roads in such bad shape ,I had to stop several times we hit holes so bad that i thought i better check 5th wheel hitch on camper to make sure nothing was broke,we hit holes so bad that it would scare you like a drop off,this is ridiculous,D.O.T.has stopped repairing potholes and everything. I did road work for years and it does not cost that much to repair a pothole.I don't know what's going on in our government,but if something can't be done maybe we need to clean out Columbia and start over,as much as we pay in tags ,taxes,road use fees and gas tax there is no excuse to let D.O.T. sit in their offices and not do anything. Where is all the money going to that we pay in right now? They are sure not using it for road repair,and i see where they are wanting to start new roads,no more new roads until they can repair what we have. I have not seen anywhere that D.O.T. had a layoff so what are all these enginners and workers in these offices doing if they are out of money? Do a audit on D.O.T. and if we need more money fine, but find out where all the money is at that they are getting now,something has got to be wrong when they can't even fix potholes,I will not be going back to beach until something is done, its not worth taking a chance of having a wreck or getting hurt or killed because of these roads.And our local roads in Hodges is a joke also, i live on a small tar and gravel road and commerical trucks are using it for a shortcut and are tearing it up and waking us up all times of the night but D.O.T. says theirs nothing they can do, so to say the least i'm fed up with D.O.T.
